Previously on the Ultimate Fighter: 32 guys showed up to find out that they weren’t actually on the show; they had to fight their way on. Tonight, we have eight more fights. Yay!
Dana starts out the show by pointing out the obvious advantage that Forrest and Rampage have over previous season’s coaches, as they get to actually see these guys in some live action. I think that this will lead to more evenly picked teams. Considering that both coaches have little experience, well, coaching, the picks are all that more important.
Simmler vs. Riddle is first, and boy, Riddle is pretty. SImmler trains with Serra, and admits that his stand-up game is limited. Pretty Boy is smiling as he walks into the Octagon. They immediately go to the ground, and Pretty Boy is in half guard, and then they’re both up. Simmler tries for a flying armbar. He doesn’t get it, but Rampage is impressed. They keep working on takedowns for a minute or so, but there isn’t much action until pretty boy gets the takedown with a trip, and gets in half guard. As the second round begins, Pretty Boy comes out with a right, and when Simmler goes down, his head bounces off the mat-HARD. He starts to moan, and it’s a little scary. The doctors are concerned about his jaw. Pretty Boy is happy, and I’m happy, because he’s hot. (What? I have to be a girly girl sometimes.) Simmler doesn’t even remember the fight, so they take him away in the ambulance.
Luke Zachrich vs. Patrick Schultz: Zachrich doesn’t like Schultz’s hair. Neither do I. It’s waaaaaaaay out of style. To the shock of no one who listens to him, Schultz is from Boston. He says “I don’t want to tap anybody, I want to finish the fight.” Not a good plan! Steve Mazzagatti has his pornstache in this episode, so I’m guess that the lack of the stache is fairly new. Bring it back, Steve! Schultz comes out with a mean right and knocks Zachrich to the ground, but Zachrich defends himself well and gets back up. Schultz then takes himself down, which prompts Rampage to write “Takes himself down…” Forrest says the worst position to be in is on your back with your arm trapped, and that’s the exact position that Schultz is in. Zachrich comes behind and works a perfect rear naked choke.
Forrest’s corner is winning all the fights, and Rampage is getting annoyed, but annoyed in the hilarious way that Rampage gets annoyed. He gives his corner some well-deserved crap.
Tim Creduer vs. Erik Charles: Creduer is going to fight to win. I tell ya,’ these guys are STRATEGIC. Charles claims that he is the fastest guy there, and Creduer quickly shoots in a double leg. Uh, yeah. Erik with a K-very fast. Creduer works a quick armbar-done and done.
Brandon Sene vs. Aaron Meisner: Meisner starts the fight off dominating, but then gets taken down awkwardly, and Sene is in control. Rampage heads over the cage to coach Aaron, who doesn’t listen, and gets rear naked choked. Rampage is impressed with Sene’s heart.
Mike Marrello vs. Gerald Harris, aka, the Hotness: The Hotness starts the fight with a punishing takedown an dominates for a decision. Harris and his beautiful abs are moving into the house.
Daniel Cramer vs. Jeremiah Riggs: Riggs has no technique but clearly will with the right coaching. Dana says: This kid would be scary if he knew anything. However, Cramer wins because he just clearly knows what he is doing. Riggs is adorable and Southern-awww, I wish he was on the show!
Nick Rossborough vs. Jesse Taylor is next. Taylor said he doesn’t have a job, but he is fighting out of Temecula, home of Team Quest and little else, so I think that he might just be busy fighting. Dana and Forrest are blown away by Nick’s “Eminemness.” Taylor gets an immediate takedown, and Nick has no wrestling skill. Jesse and his enormous jaw win by rear naked choke.
Josh Hall vs. Matt Brown is our final fight. They have boring names-will they have a boring fight? Hall is here to fight, not say hello. SO DON’T SAY HELLO TO HIM, DAMN IT! Brown is working hard for a takedown, but nothing is happening. Since they can’t get to the ground, they start throwing punches. Forrest compliments their shadowboxing. Hall takes down Brown, and then Brown locks a beautiful triangle choke that does nothing. Hall gets out, but Brown works the ground and pounds and TKOs. What a great fight.
Dana is so f***in’ impressed by the fighters, because the guys that are have to leave have to have a f***ed up feeling. I thnk Dana only dropped two f-bombs tonight. Sad.
On this season of the Ultimate Fighter: fights, drinking, practical jokes, and what seems like the two most fun coaches that a season of TUF has seen. Yay! Now, I’m off to have some ice cream.
