CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

I know that this is a blog about wrestling and fighting, but, I don’t get to celebrate this kind of stuff very often…

Hey Chicago, Whaddya Say? THE CUBS ARE GONNA WIN TODAY!

And there is nothing cuter than boys pouring champagne on each other.

Battle of Mat Face: Episode 2

Here we are again… another episode of the Ultimate Fighter. We begin, as always, with a recap of the previous fight. We see, again, that Joey taps out with 15 seconds left. We then see Hughes being smug. How out of character. Continue Reading »

UFC 76 Round Up

You got no fear of the underdog, that’s why you will not survive! - Spoon, the Underdog

If there was any theme for last night’s fights, it was the triumph of the underdog. My man Forrest came into the fight against Shogun more ready than he has ever been. Shogun looked like he was not expecting the fight to go into the third round, and he had clearly not trained for all three rounds. Granted, he sustained a pretty bad cut, but so did Forrest. He looked exhausted for most of the third round. As for Liddell and Jardine, though Chuck is an excellent striker, he does have a better ground game than Jardine. Why not try to get him on the ground? Raise your hand if you think Chuck is done? Yeah, me too. Since he is such a striker, he takes more blows to the head than your average MMA-er. Strikers walk on the edge, and one punch too many can be catastrophic. I hope that he hasn’t fallen off the edge, and that he knows when to walk away. Kudos to Jardine for a well-fought match. After the jump, what is being said around the Web. Continue Reading »

For my ladies: Rules for Watching a Fight at a Bar/Party

I have caught the last two pay-per-view fights at a bar not too far from my home. It’s your regular, neighborhood sports bar. Because of various circumstances, I usually go to watch the fights by myself. I sit with the bouncers or at the bar, watch the fights, have a few beers, and come home and post here. Generally, the women at this bar are with boyfriends/husbands. A few of these women are fight fans, but most of them are just tagging along for the drinks. For those women, I write this post. Next time you ladies go with your boyfriends/husbands to watch a fight at the bar, keep these simple rules in mind:

UFC 76: Predictions…

Published by chitownchick under Uncategorized Edit This

Between wrestling worlds and the Ultimate Fighter, I’ve neglected the very interesting fight card line up for tonight. My picks are:

Liddell vs. Jardine

Rua vs. Griffin (SAD. I want Griffin to win, I just don’t think he will.)

Fitch vs. Sanchez

I’m still not sure where I’m watching the fights from, but I’ll have thoughts on the results.

Coo-Coo for Baku: Heavyweight/women’s FS results

Daniel Cormier won bronze, and Tommy Rowlands took fifth. At least it’s not an 0-for for the men’s freestyle. Steph Murata is also going for bronze; I’ll update when I find out her results.

UPDATED: Steph took fifth.

Coo-Coo for Baku: Freestyle Middleweights Take Fifth

That’s right - they all took fifth. Doug Schwab, Joe Heskett, and Joe Williams all took fifth. Tommy Rowlands and Daniel Cormier are our only hopes for a freestyle men’s medal. More later…
